Wild Zeros are a garage punk band from Bordeaux, France who’ve been playing for a little over 10 years. They are a trio that consists of Adrien on Bass, Bart on Guitar & Vox, and François on drums. They have members that play with Magnetix who I’m a massive fan of. One of these fellas runs the Frantic City label. This single is third in the Nerve Centre 7″ series, and they are batting three for three!
The 4 song EP opens with “Motormouth” which charges in sounding like a mix of Splash Four and The Vibrators but with a vocal reminiscent of Billy Childish. My interest is piqued. The second cut is a cool cover of “Damage Your Health” by The Cigarettes. Nice. The EP is rounded out by a groovy organ-laced instrumental called “Squid Balls” which is nice change of pace. “Bare Facts” closes out the EP it’s big a glam influenced punk waver with snotty vocals, handclaps, and I think I detect some of that organ in the mix. Might be my fave one. Produced just right. I woulda thought the band was English had I not been informed they were French. Would be cool to hear some tunes in the future done in French ala “Je Suis Punk” and “Ca Plane Pour Moi” but that’s a request moreso than a critique.
