jacques le coque band

A little intro from Windian Records

HAILING FROM STAMFORD, CT, JACQUES LE COQUE PLAYS REPLACEMENTS-STYLE GARAGE POP WITH A BIT MORE YOUTH AND A LIL MORE FUZZ ON THE MASTER MIX. WINDIAN RECORDS PRESENTS THEIR FULL-LENGTH LP HOOKY VIA OUR NEW-FANGLED DIGITAL PLATFORM, ONE OF MANY PLANNED UPCOMING DIGITAL-ONLY RELEASES FROM WINDIAN FAMILY BANDS. CHECK HOOKY OUT ON YOUR FAVORITE SERVICE: SPOTIFY/ ITUNES/ AMAZON/ JAY-Z’S NEW PET PROJECT, WE’VE GOT IT EVERYWHERE!

My turn…

Today we meet, JACQUES LE COQUE , a little Stones , a little VU ,throw in some almost surf guitars add a little bit of Buddy Holly and you’re off to the races. You can tell that they understand the early rock history, turning up the fuzz and reverb with some slick harmonies. I can close my eyes and see them singing from the same microphone.  And like they said up top, most definitely some of the fun from bands like The Replacements and The Ramones is on full display. Give a listen today to JACQUES LE COQUE, you can thank us later….

Hi our name is

JACQUES LE COQUE

our sound is

LOCATED RIGHT NEXT TO THE BEACH, NYUCK NYUCK NYUCK…WE PLAY LOUD SWEET SNOTTY SWEATY ROCK & ROLL

We are

PETE MAZZA, JASON KYEK, RJ DEANGELIS, FRANCIS CARR JR., IS THIS GOING TO BE GRADED LATER? YOU’RE NOT A COP ARE YOU?

We are from

STAMFORD, AMERICA/ STAM VEGAS, CT

Who are some that have an influence on you

GROUCHO MARX, MACHO MAN, HEATHER GRAHAM, OUR CAT OTIS REDDING

How old were all of you when you started to play and who plays what in the band

WE ARE AGELESS AND TIMELESS, LIKE FERMENTED GRAPES OR REALLY COOL TURTLES, LIKE THE ONES FROM THE GALAPAGOS, NOT THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA KIND. PETE SINGS, PLAYS RHYTHM GUITAR, AND LIKES LONG WALKS ON THE BEACH. JASON PLAYS DRUMS AND CAN SHOW YOU A THING OR TWO ABOUT A THING OR TWO. RJ PLAYS LEAD GUITAR AND WON’T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. FRANCIS PLAYS BASS AND CAN BALANCE A SPOON ON THE END OF HIS NOSE MAYBE.

Can you tell us about the process you use, from writing the songs all the way through getting the songs out

NO, THIS IS TOP SECRET INFORMATION, WHO ARE YOU THE NSA? GEEZ. JK, WE USE THE ‘WEIRD SCIENCE’ METHOD, ALWAYS. BY PLACING A OUIJA BOARD, A DIRTY ASH TRAY, A PAIR OF UNDERWEAR, A SINGLE TEAR, ALL OF OUR HOPES AND DREAMS, AND OUR INSTRUMENTS NEXT TO A COMPUTER AND A TASCAM 388 REEL TO REEL, WE WAIT FOR THE PERFECT LIGHTING STORM TO STRIKE WHILE ALL HOLDING OUR BREATHS AND WISHING THE DEEPEST WISH, AND THEN MIRACULOUSLY THE SONGS EMERGE OUT OF A HAZE OF SMOKE AND GLORY AND ONTO YOUR NEAREST VINTAGE OR MODERN MUSIC PLAYING DEVICE.

what are some of the challenges you face as musicians and how have you overcome those challenges

ANSWERING INTERVIEW QUESTIONS LOL. WE OVERCOME THAT BY ADMINISTERING CAPITAL LETTERS AND A NONCHALANT ATTITUDE.

1st rock concert you went to and age

DAVID BOWIE, BLUE MAN GROUP AND BUSTA RHYMES AT JONES BEACH. TRUE STORY. I WAS 15.

coolest band t-shirt you ever bought

JACQUES LE COQUE, DUH

the most insane concert you ever went to or were a part of

THE BLACK LIPS AT A WAREHOUSE CALLED THE SKANK IN BROOKLYN 5 YEARS AGO. WE DROVE FROM CT AND THE VENUE WASNT LETTING PEOPLE IN ANYMORE, BUT THEN I SAW THAT RAD OLD DUDE WHO ROLLER SKATES ON STAGE WITH THEM AND KING KHAN AND THE SHIRINES SOMETIMES AND HE PUT US ON THEIR GUEST LIST. THEY DIDN’T PLAY TILL 3AM OR SOMETHING AND BARELY PLAYED 5 SONGS- THE WHOLE STAGE, PA, AND THEIR GEAR WAS FALLING APART FROM THE GET-GO BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE, A GIRL SQUATTED ONSTAGE TO TAKE A PISS WHILE THEY PLAYED AND HALF THE WAREHOUSE WAS COVERED IN PISS BECAUSE THERE WAS ONLY ONE PORTAPOTTY AND LIKE A THOUSAND PEOPLE. IT WAS PRETTY AWESOME.

If you could open for any Band right now who would that be and why?

JOHNNY THUNDERS & THE HEARTBREAKERS, BECAUSE HOW CRAZY WOULD THAT BE IF THOSE DUDES WERE STILL AROUND, AND THEY FUCKING RULED, AND JOHNNY PROBABLY HAD THE BEST STAGE BANTER EVER AND WOULD MAKE SOME REALLY CRUDE/GREAT JOKES ABOUT OUR BAND NAME.

My youngest son is 13 and in a Band, what advice would you offer him

DON’T LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS, UNLESS YOUR PARENTS ARE COOL, THEN THAT’S OK.
