The incredibly talented Taylor Kingman from The Hill Dogs playing his original songs “Curious Pride” and “Everybody Loves You” before we kicked off our Damn House Show Mini Music Fest.

Febian Perez from Bike Thief, Kivett Bednar from Land of the Living, and yours truly decided to put on a somewhat last minute house show to take place on Saturday September 27, 2014. When we first started organizing what we planned on being a 3 band lineup, we ran into a few obstacles. First we had trouble finding a house to host it, then one band we really wanted to play was too cool, and then we had to change the date which meant a band we had already booked was no longer available, but we weren’t panicked. In fact, before we knew it, the house show snowballed into a mini festival with two stages and six sets. Although there were plenty of great things to do in Portland that Saturday night, and even though we had a noise complaint and a visit from an officer of the law at 7:20 PM, it was a raging success with a turn out better than I could have imagined. The backyard and house were full, the music was solid, and the vibes were great.

I’d like to thank all of the musicians who played and put up with the shenanigans (Bike Thief, Halogens, Foxy Lemon, Land of the Living, The Tamed West, and Taylor Kingman from The Hill Dogs), Kivett Bednar for hosting the mini fest, Febian Perez for inviting me to be a part of it, the wonderful people who chose to take a chance on our Damn House Show and experience music they’d never heard, Montucky Cold Snacks for the free beer, and my momma for doing all of the crucial things no one else will do. Yeah, giggle giggle, suckas, but my mom is actually dependable and she’s the reason my projects happen, so you can just…sunshine. But really, it was the epitome of good times and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. And I totally wore a kimono too.

Make sure to check out the video of Taylor Kingman from The Hill Dogs singing original songs before the show started. More pictures and video to come!
