By my count this is at least the fourth maybe the fifth Premiere we’ve done with Phoenix garage-psych rock supergroup The Darts and we couldn’t be more stoked!
“The Cat’s Meow” is lifted from their forthcoming debut full-length “Me.Ow” out at the end of September on Dirty Water Records. The song was co-written with “My Heart Is A Graveyard” co-author and Underground Garage DJ John Carlucci. I’ve got a hunch that Me.Ow is going to be a favorite around here.
The Cat’s Meow is built on a fiendish bass/guitar/organ hook kind of like the Bad Seeds playing a surfy spy theme with Nicole Laurenne’s voice, a mix of a slightly restrained Karen O and PJ Harvey dragging it all home.

Bio: THE DARTS (US) are an all-grrrrl garage-psych-rock supergroup featuring Nicole Laurenne (The Love Me Nots, Motobunny, Zero Zero), Rikki Styxx (The Two Tens, The Dollyrots, Thee Outta Sites), Christina Nunez (The Love Me Nots, Casual Encounters, The Madcaps), and Michelle Balderrama (Brainspoon). The band formed in early 2016 when, after watching each other’s bands from the sidelines for years, Nicole and Michelle realized there was no good reason why they shouldn’t just start writing songs together already.
