I heard this the other day on the radio and I immediately searched it out. The Shacks are Max Shrager and Shannon Wise and “Thoughts of You” is a timeless sort of ballad, dreamy and wistful. The vocals soft and meaningful, personal. The video has a playful and vintage energy, reeling like a projector in that home video feel of old clips of pin-up girls and Max crooning in between scenes. The Shacks are a young duo, meeting in high school they attended in New York. They are currently preparing for the release of their upcoming EP and full length coming soon via Big Crown.
“This one was written the summer I moved to New York City. I thought of it as a country ballad as I was writing it. It ended up having some interesting rhythms and flavors. My grandmother came downstairs to my parent’s basement as I was recording the guitar, and she was into it.”
