TONI BASIL – LITTLE RED BOOK

Toni Basil is a legendary and influential artist who is also highly underrated and was ahead of her time always, and still is. She had records in the 60’s like ‘Breakaway’ and she was in the film Easy Rider. She’s probably best known as a dancer and choreographer. By the late 70’s and early 80’s, DEVO was often her backing band. That’s before we even mention a little hit she had called ‘Mickey’. Here’s a cool vid for her new wave version of ‘Little Red Book’.

  • It’s almost too bad she scored with Mickey. It was probably great for her financially but she was so much more; choreographer and a dancer on the T.A.M.I. Show, worked with Bowie and the Talking Heads…great pick!

    • Toni Basil is no mere ‘One-hit-wonder’ she is an important artist. Word is she didn’t bank much on her version of ‘Mickey’ even though she added the infamous cheer. Glad you dug this!
