When I started this blog with some like-minded friends last year, I kept trying to come up with a name that captured not only the music we loved but also represented a physical place that readers could “hang out at”. I couldn’t find anything that I liked and was getting frustrated. I finally threw the Ramones 1st LP on the turntable and when 53rd & 3rd came on, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew what the blog would be named.
Late last night when I heard of Tommy Ramones passing, the last of the original “bruddahs”, I felt a loss as I did with Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny before him.
Since I first heard the Ramones years ago my musical taste has grown but punk will always be my first love and I owe it all to those four originators.
RIP brother.
