I don’t think this man need much introduction.
Known as the ‘Belfast Cowboy’ and ‘Van the Man’, Van Morrison (George Ivan Morrison, born 31 August 1945 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. He has been following his muse in an uncompromising way. From the age of 15 he was playing a variety of instruments in Irish showbands. In the mid 60s he became the lead singer of the gritty Northern Irish R & B band ‘Them’ with whom he recorded the timeless classic ‘Gloria’. He really became famous when his solo career started with the big pop hit ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ in 1967. Since then he explored soul, jazz, blues, r & b, rock ‘n roll, Celtic folk and more, forging a distinctive amalgam that has Morrison’s unvarnished passion at its core. He has referred to his music as ‘Caledonia soul’, reflecting his deep immersion in American roots music and Irish mysticism.
