This week we are going to feature two Bands from Australia, 1st up are The Stevens. The Album you will be listening to “A History Of Hygiene ” is their debut which came out last November on Chapter Music. Here is my take on a very cool album. If you mixed up, Robyn Hitchcock, The Kinks, GBV, and a dash of Sonic Youth and then you added all the talent that The Stevens have , which is plenty, you have a new sound , for a new generation of kids who are looking for Artists with something to say . I love the pop that mixes with the attack of the guitars , I bet live , they can do some damage. The first time we met was…..
Alex met Gus when gus was born, Travis met Matt at school i think, Alex met Travis either at a party or at a music show maybe. Alex and Gus met Matt when Matt joined the band, Gus met Travis through Alex i think. We’ve all met steven at different times, very rarely seen him all at once.
We knew we were going to be a Band when………

What are you looking forward to most at Gonerfest this year?
Having a really nice time with some of our friends from home and all the new friends we are gonna make. Im looking forward to all the bands too, the lineup is outa control. Cant believe i get to see the gizmos.
Our craziest gig ever was….
Hmm, well i dunno, we have some rowdy fans, we’ve had some good circle pits and whatnot, i feel like phil anselmo, “You gonna turn it around down there, or are you stupid?” thats what id say.
Couldnt really say we’ve had that many CRAZY gigs though. Sorry. One time our old drummer went to the toilet mid song and our friend Rory came and played drums for a bit, that was wacky.
The first song we wrote was…….
I guess we dont really write that much together, one of the first ones we worked on together was called Weaving, because my father told us the riff sounded like two guitars weaving a basket, he was fair pirrelled but it was true.

I dont understand, sometimes we jam on hendrix songs.
What are some of the 1st songs you remember listening to that made you say, that’s what I want to do
Stairway to Heaven or something probably, or some King Crimson…. i still havent done THAT yet then… to that extent. But probably ramones or something, maybe made me feel like i COULD do it.
