you have to love Dirty Fences, they are outrageously fun. Its kind of like saying you have to love The Gories or The Oblivions to an older generation, they get that, well Dirty Fences are now for now and all about now, not saying that The Oblivions or The Gories are to be tossed aside, Dirty Fences just gives you some new songs to add to your playlists that are filled with hits from Bands that you hold above others..
this is from Slovenly Records
Satisfying a youthful obsession with early KISS and Motley Crüe, then discovering the fortunate truth of The Dictators and Ramones, DIRTY FENCES have finally slammed into the Slovenly path with the “Full Tramp” LP. Brooklyn is the launching pad, and following a previous full length, a few singles and a few transcontinental tours, Dirty Fences got their shit on lockdown. “Full Tramp” has got the biggest balls of them all, and each song is study in what makes a song just right without ever losing sight of what makes an album worth listening to. But when it comes down to it, it’s the really their slime factor that got us on board, and this record is the festering manifestation of your love encrusted bed sheets headed to the wash.
Hi our name is….
Dirty Fences
People say we sound like…..
Rock N Roll the good kind, you know the kind.
We are….
Blackie, Ronwood, HG Bunker, Dave
We are from…….
NYC USA
What’s the scene/support from other musicians like in Brooklyn…
NY will always be at the center of the worlds culture we are BLESSED to be doin it here.
Who are some that have an influence on you….
Older Bro and Sis (hi), Bus driver, Principal, my Boss, The guy i saw on the subway peeling the skin off his bald head, good rock n roll bands, you know the ones.
How old were all of you when you started to play and who plays what in the band
Weve always been players. Even before we played, we played. Thats the way it works, either youre always playin or you aint playin at all.
Can you tell us about the process you use, from writing the songs all the way through getting the songs out
We write together. I start, then he finishes. Sometimes he starts, and then i finish. Usually its like that. Or sometimes He starts and finishes everything all by themselves. Usually its all together. Like that, you know, psychic-ly collaborative and altruistic dynamic so as to not create any unspoken animosity or negative projections.
what are some of the challenges you face as musicians and how have you overcome those challenges
its hard to do what we do. People say “hey that loser” or “he needs to get more jobs!” “or why dont your mom told you to be a lawyer so listen!” Stuff like that. I was a lawyer for myself, but only in private. I said “Mom its just for me ok so let me be in private” ya know? We live outside of you. Whatever you live in, we are outside of that guaranteed. And see the way it works, no matter what heights you reach in your ness, we will be outside of that. Just like that. Cant touch DIS NA NA NA NA. its hard being that way.
What’s it been like working with Slovenly..
Slovenly rules there are two guys Pete and Joe they are cool guys very chill very gang, its all workin out. Ya know? Just like that. We all look in each others mirrors and say “Hey i know that guy! THats me/him” We are all the same body with different masks on. Ya know? A Royal Flush.
If you could pick any time to travel back to for music, where would you go and what year would it ….
The year before Bill Haley and the Comets started so we could start rock n roll instead thatd be the greatest.
Who are all of you currently listening to ….
Steve Miller Band. They played after the Mets game last weekend. We are from NY and love baseball teams and we love ours especially. My dad always talked about them. Now I talk about them. everyone’s probably listening to something different right now. Hes in nicaragua so hes probably listening to some Caribbean type of shit at a bar on the beach with coconuts and like bamboo and shit, this guy is in Alabama at a wedding so maybe they’ve got some american shit goin on some blue grass and country music, I’m in NY so all my neighbors are blasting the new rhianna track and G unit and Jay Z and Wu tang and then over there they’re Spanish so lots of different kinds of Spanish music.
What do you think of “the state of rock n roll”…
thatd be rad thats a great idea, where would you want it to be? Maybe it could be an island. I would want it to be in America no offense, but you know….. We wouldnt necessarily have to be a state, we could secede from a very small nation like Montenegro or something.
some albums that you have played on repeat over the years……
Dude there are so many albums man JESUS. Nazareth, Devo, The Damned, The Residents, Big Star, Lots of COMPS, all the shit you expect us to say like: Stooges, David Bowie, The Saints, Alce Cooper, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, ZZ Top, Motor Head, MC5, JIMI you know we know it all we love it all. you guys gotta check out Black Oak Arkansas bet you’ve never heard em HUH?? well yah that’s american SHIT for ya.

My youngest son is 13 and in a Band, what advice would you offer him…
Nothing hes 13 just have fun and dont listen to any losers who are lame and trying to tell you whats what. If your son was 22 in a band then maybe I would have some advice for him maybe not.
Exile on Main Street or Pet Sounds….
Well……. Exile on Main Street might have more to do with us sort of, but Pet Sounds is brilliant, and we definitely get really inspiried by both for different reasons.
Our plans for 2015…..
I mean, what do you say to that? Give up. Quit. Get lazy. Get distracted. Focus on other things. We are hoping that our momentum dies down so we can quit and break up without anyone noticing. Everything is going really well right now so we dont wanna spoil it by letting it go on too long. We were gonna make a plan for Japan and South America but that just seems too hard I dont know what to do. If you have any advice for me please call me +1(646)-509-6780
