Sunday Soul: Wilson Pickett – Mini Skirt Minnie

Wilson Pickett (March 18, 1941 – January 19, 2006) was one of the biggies in the development of American Soul music. He was considered a little bit rawer than some of his contemporaries like Otis Redding or Solomon Burke and I tend to agree. Wilson started out singing with The Falcons in 1962 and he signed on to Stax Records in 1965.

Some of his biggest hits were “In the Midnight Hour”, “Land of 1000 Dances” and “Mustang Sally” but “Minnie Skirt Minnnie” has always been a favorite of mine.
