For those unfamiliar with your music, can you can you give us a little of your back history?
In case you’re wondering. it’s pronounced ‘MISS THING’, though ‘mustang’ would be cool too.
We’re surfy psych rock / US garage. We love the Quentin Tarantino sound combined with a more carefree festival style.
Who would you list as your musical influence?
I think generally it’s like a mix of the old Best Coast, the Strokes and punk/garage bands like Together Pangea and Harlem.
What’s the coolest thing that’s happened to you since you started up?
Last Month we got to play with LA Witch, who were some of the earliest inspiration for this band project. So playing with them was really rad, and they said they digged it!
What are your hopes and dreams as a musician for the next few years?
We’d love to go tour loads, and I mean playing SXSW would be cool as fuck.
What are some of your favorite albums from the past few years?
Definite favorite would be ‘City Club’ by the Growlers. Always had a sweet spot in our hearts but the production Julian Casablancas did on the new Album is ace.
Do you see any real use for social media, or is it all just a pain in the ass to keep with?
It can be a pain, especially since there’s so many sites and you have to update every single one regularly. There is some cool features though, I found that twitter is my favorite at the moment. We only follow industry related accounts, so it’s good to discover new music and read interesting articles.
Do you pay attention to reviews or comments from people about your music or do you just turn that noise off?
We’re always up for criticism, if it’s coming from a legit opinion. Just trolling gets brushed off with a smile.
? If you could tour anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?
I think Australia would be one of our favorite places to go. If we could combine touring and the ocean that would be the dream! Maybe sneak off to the islands of Hawaii as well.
Can music save the mortal soul or is just a good backbeat to your life?
If it makes you feel something and you want to be around it then it’s the perfect soundtrack to your life, so make it a good one and be happy!
