“Sun-drenched” garage rock from the heat-strokin’ streets of Miami, FL… Meet , Sunghosts

sunghosts header

For those heading back to work, Sunghosts will ease you into your work week. This is fun rock ‘n’ roll , their song are well written, music is what it says it is, little Artic Monkey’s, little Strokes and a whole lot of who they are. I’m a firm believer that trying to have a radio friendly single is a good thing. You want to get all crazy artistic, do that down the road when your fans are more likely to hear you out, in the early days, try to write hits that would be my advice and I’m telling you Sunghosts get that. All 3 of these songs show different sides of what they are capable of. I like all of them but “ll” has that crazy boy garage rock vibe going on and I look towards that as an indication that we have a lot more to look forward to from Sunghosts…..

The first time we met was…..

Nik and Arminio met in music business II class at Miami-Dade College during the Spring 2013 term. Nik and Jared met at a band friend’s house July 1st 2013, the official conception of the band haha. Arminio and Luis had been playing in bands together their whole life. We came together to form Sunghosts in a beautiful union of friendship… and ROCK!

We knew we were going to be a Band…

We knew we were going to be a band once I jammed with Jared for the first time and it clicked. His energy was great and we were ready to make something happened. So i called up Arminio and we began as a three piece with Armi on drums.

Our craziest gig ever was….

Our outdoor performance at the prestigious Calle Ocho festival in Miami haha. A cultural tsunami of food and music. We played on a new stage just for local rock bands to showcase a different side of Miami’s talented youth. During our 40 minute set both our guitarists popped multiple strings due to the heat. While Arminio was trying to repair his guitar’s issues Jared called out to Louie to throw down a latin beat and we went into this crazy Santana Woodstock ’69-esque improv jam. We ended up getting by with a lil help from our friends from another band and borrowed their two backup guitars to finish our set. All the while we drew in a crowd that kept growing and growing comprised of such a gnarly blend of people. There were young kids, “abuelitas” (grandmas haha), college kids, adults, all from different ethnic backgrounds. The show ended with the most intense sunburn, all of our stickers being taken by the audience, and a bra being tossed on stage during the finale. Good times.
