ShitKid is Åsa Söderqvist based in Stockholm, Sweden. Following her self-titled debut EP released last year, she’s back with a brand new EP, simply titled EP 2 to set things up for her debut full-length “Fish” out on June 2 out via Stockholm label PNKSLM Recordings.
There’s a lot of buzz happening with ShitKid and it’s easy to hear why. One listen to “Sugar Town” and guaranteed it’s in your head all day. Åsa is clearly blessed with an innate talent for the hook.
You’ll hear all kinds of stuff here, the B52s, Bush Tetras, White Stripes, Ravonettes, Stereolab…it might have a lofi, avant-garde bedroom drum machine vibe to it, but the pop chops are there in spades.
