Record of the Day…Son Little – Lay Down

Aaron Earl Livingston was born in Los Angeles to a preacher and a teacher, learned to play guitar and sing before moving away to the East coast and settling in Philadelphia. He has collaborated with Mavis Staples, The Roots and RJD2 before being reborn as Son Little and releasing an EP last year.

The EP – Things I Forgot – was released and showcased his genre-defying American sound.

Now he has dropped a song from his self-titled record due October 16, 2015, and well you can go ahead and add this record to the list of hotly anticipated releases.

I will warn you, Lay Down is a pretty sexy number, it’s full of soul and emotion. The song has got a touch of gospel and Son Little croons like a young, or what the hell, even an old Aaron Neville, with a Sam Cooke smoothness. My oh my, this is a winner.
