Record of The Day – “Motor City Squeeze” Duende with David J. – “Oracle Of The Horizontal” (Glass Modern Records)

Album Art: Damien Youth

This past year, Detroit garage psych rockers, Duende, teamed up with the one and only David J. and released the seductive, hard-driving, Oracle Of The Horizontal LP. It’s moody, it’s sinister, it’s sexy, and we’re gonna kick off this morning with a little danger, courtesy of David J. and his “Motor City Squeeze”. Our narrator recounts with impish glee and effortless cool, his dizzying night of bar crawling with a certain young lady who’s “built to please” on this opening cut, sung over the thunderous sounds of Link Wray meets Sonic Youth’s “Mildred Pierce” on a fiery ride through hell, or in this case, Detroit!  Best getcha eyes and ears on this one, kiddies!
