I always seem to have a certain number of bands “on my radar” – bands that have caught my attention from a small sample size of music. One of the acts I was watching this year – Brisbane’s WAAX have dropped an early Christmas present.
Their brand spanking new four-song EP – Holy Sick, is perfect for lovers of ferocious post-punk. Vocalist Maria DeVita wails and growls like a combination of John Lydon, Nina Hagen and Karen O over a sonic assault of guitars and crashing drums.
WAAX is definitely still on the radar!
