Record of the Day – STP ‘Sweet Man’

First let me preface this post by saying that this is not the band Stone Temple Pilots who came out a few years after this far superior band, also called STP.

What we have here is a booted demo from 1990 presumably intended for a never released LP by scum rock 4-piece STP. These 4 ladies made quite an impact on me with this noisy goodness, scattered across a couple of bootlegs, and one proper 7-inch single on Circuit Records recorded and produced by Kim Gordon and Don Fleming.

STP’s most notable member is probably Julie Cafritz, she of Pussy Galore, Action Swingers, and Free Kitten fame, and Jacqui Dulany of DUSTDevils. STP would tour with the likes of Nirvana and Sonic Youth, but they broke up shortly thereafter leaving the world with only these few glorious recordings, and reportedly an LP in the can that no one will ever be privy to listening to or putting out, beleive me I have asked. So i’m going to share with you this bootleg, and i’m gonna toss in an extra one called ‘Yo Jacqui Yo’ for good measure as it’s scarce and deserves to be heard in all it’s glory. ENJOY THIS WONDERFUL RACKET!

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN HERE IS “SWEET MAN” BY STP!!!
