This week, 21 year old rapper Kamayiah is out with her debut mixtape, Good Night in the Ghetto. The Oakland rapper released the tape in celebration of her 21st birthday, and it certainly serves as the soundtrack to a party. Good Night features Kamaiyah’s Big Money Gang crew: Netta Brielle, and YG. The tape includes 90s-esque phone call interludes that string the songs together into one cohesive story line. “Out the Bottle” and “Ain’t Going Home” are standout tracks that may both serve as song of the summer (or at least song of my summer). Good Night in the Ghetto is spoken from the perspective of someone aiming for greatness, and who keeps it 100, 100 percent of the time. Kamaiyah’s got ego and it rubs off on the listener.
