It’s been a long wait for Chicago garage punks Vamos to drop their sophomore LP but on March 16 Maximum Pelt will release 1~2~3.
Vamos completed the recording of 1~2~3 in November, 2016 with the intention of releasing the LP and touring; but in late December, guitarist/vocalist Ryan Murphy was hit by a car while riding his bike and broke both his arms.
After a long period of recovery Murphy Vamos is ready to unleash a record they describe as “a controlled descent into madness and mayhem [where] ghostly echoes and reverberations chase edgy, unforgettable melodies.”
Vamos released the Heatwave EP in spring of 2013 followed with another EP – Midwaste later that year. Their 2015 debut LP Spiderbait (also on Maximum Pelt) was critically acclaimed by the Chicago Tribune as a “dense and raucous aural kick-in-the-teeth“.
Vamos will celebrate the release of 1~2~3, which Maximum Pelt is releasing in a first edition press limited to 500 copies of randomly colored vinyl, with a headlining show at Chicago’s Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave, on Friday, March 16 at 9PM.
The new album was recorded and mixed by Dan Rico, co-produced by Rico and Vamos and mastered by Jason Richards. It’s garage punk for sure; fuzzy and thrashy, but with huge arena rock nods and more hooks than a Bass Pro Shop.
