A happy 20th birthday to Montreal’s legendary garage rockers Les Breastfeeders! Lucky for us, to celebrate the sextet have released their first new music since 2011’s ‘Dans la gueule des jours‘.
Formed in 1999, Les Breastfeeders are known for their explosive live shows and relatively limited output, so a new single is a cause for celebration all around.
‘Ma mort d’avant ma mort‘ (My Death Before My Death) is a tale of forlorn love backed by a spaghetti western energy while the b-side ‘Hey, Petie Fille‘ (a francophone version of Sweet Young Thing by The Chocolate Watchband) is more in line with the classic sound of LB with its ‘Dirty Water’ 60s garage rock riff and a bluesy Medway undertow.
Right now it looks as if forthcoming shows are limited to Quebec, but let’s hope they expand the tour. But hey, I’ve heard Gatineau is beautiful in the Fall.
