New Music Blast: 3 new 7’s From Hidden Volume Records

hidden volume

I’m seriously pressed for time as I head out the door for work, but before I go, I’m putting this up for the world to listen to. I have loved everything Scott at Hidden Volume has put out since day one. Sometimes you just hit gold in a label and that is what we have going on here today…3 great bands…3 off the chart cool ass tracks, follow the links in the songs and go order your copies today.

DC psych cosmonauts The Beginner’s Mynd, fresh off two releases from Burger Records and 13 O’Clock, deliver two sides of 12 string garage-folk, complete with organ, mellotron and wah-wah. This single comes in an X10 designed jacket.

Japan’s most primitive combo! Two wild tracks straight outta Hokkaido! Part rockabilly, part garage, part punk, part fun—Swamps deliver Hi-Vo’s most out there tracks yet. “Rockin’ Show Must Die!” is the bastard son of Elvis and Hasil Adkins while the flip “Hate Hate Hate” sounds closer to early Oblivians, Gories or Panther Burns. On second thought, “Primitive” might just be too generous a description. Super limited edition. This one is HI-LITER YELLOW, 100 copies. jacket is 2-color plus super secret GLOW-IN-THE-DARK 3rd color. Each single also includes a fancy die cut Swamps sticker.

Toronto’s very own garage/psych/power wailers hit hard with two epic length tunes: “Hey Doctor” b/w “Killing Floor” The A-Side starts off Bo Diddley then takes a left turn into late 60s heavy psych/garage and back again. The flip is a swirling burner with piercing guitar and huge organ swells. Both tracks clock in at over 4 minutes each and take garage to new and unexplored territories. Jacket by x10.
