Nashville Riot Grrrls presents The 2nd Annual Tomato Riot, taking place within walking distance of this weekends annual Tomato Festival here in East Nashville this Saturday, August 13th. This event is free and will be featuring entertainment from local musicians, comedians and more with vendors selling their art, zines, and jewelry. All proceeds will benefit the Southern Girls Rock and Roll Camp. Delicious vegan treats will be for sale to support Food Not Bombs. The success of last years first Tomato Riot sent two girls to Southern Girls Rock and Roll camp and they want to send even more this year! The event will be hosted by Daneto Matally and it is absolutely dog, kids and adult friendly. There will be a raffle prize featuring a pair of tickets to see The Julie Ruin at Mercy Lounge, NRG t-shirt (black shirt, size of your choice), NRG zines and much more!
The Julie Ruin is Kathleen Hanna’s new band, she is the founder of the Riot Grrrl movement. The Julie Ruin will be rocking Mercy Lounge on August 16th! Enter here for your chance to win a pair of tickets to see them on stage at one of Nashville’s favorite venues.
Southern Girls Rock & Roll Camp is a summer day camp for girls ages 10-17, happening during the month of July. SCGRRC is founded in July 2003 to empower young women through music education in a supportive and challenging environment, promoting collaboration and positive self-esteem.
Vendors will begin selling at 9 a.m. and the music and other entertainment will go from 12-7 p.m.
