Mr. and the Mrs. – Kansas Garage Punk 2-piece release new split single with Missouri’s Hurt Russell

Mr. and the Mrs. are a two piece garage punk duo from Hillsdale, Kansas. They’re stumping up some artfully damaged and playful garage punk that is a noisy good time. “Do The Octopus” is one of their contributions to this split and it has a minimalist and dancey approach, but also has a mean fuzz guitar bit coupled with some ominous laughter. It’s kinda spooky and campy Crampsian fuzz monster, and it makes you wanna shake yr butt. There aren’t a ton of bands nailing this 2-piece minimal garage punk thing at the moment, so if this is up your alley like it is mine, go check it out. There’s a garagey noise rock element too that really elevates the whole thing, like on their recent Spiderchild Records release, Bumble-Buzz Bee-Fuzz.

Hurt Russell contribute a cut called “Loverboy Blues” and it is catchy and beachy garage pop that has a sunny stoner vibe. It’s a strong song with some nice hooks and the production is right! All in all this is a really fun and catchy split. Strong stuff from deep within the Midwest garage scene. You can listen to the rest of the split and purchase over on Mr. and the Mrs. Bandcamp
