Moonbeau – “In Your Lifetime” – Record Of The Day

Cincinnati just might be America’s best-kept secret when it comes to their indie music scene. Over the past few months, I’ve covered more music from that particular city than any other in the entire country! From alternative country to folk, to soul to garage rock, Cincinnati has it all! When Old Flame Records sent me an email regarding a new promising band, I didn’t hesitate to give it a listen. Inside that email was In Your Lifetime by Moonbeau.

After my first listen, I found myself starting it over and over. It was an instant earworm!

In Your LifetimeLead by couple Christian Gough and Claire Muenchen, Moonbeau is a powerpop duo with just enough 80s flair to make fans of Republican Hair and The 86 Olympics feel right at home. In Your Lifetime is a sentimental modern love song elevated by crisp synths and jangly Cure-esque guitars. The constant beat of the rhythm section not only keeps the track moving but the listener as well!

Moonbeau is a relatively new project and is currently working on a full-length album between tour dates and festivals across the US.

In Your Lifetime is a digital exclusive to Old Flame Records and acts as sort of an introduction to Moonbeau. I haven’t heard too many tracks from this band but with this song alone, I’m already hooked! I’m looking forward to an album full of 80s inspired tracks like this one!

Old Flame Records has been one of my favorite indie labels since the release of Savior by Shark? in 2013. However, this digital release confirms the label isn’t just about snotty garage rock. Moonbeau is a little bit of New Wave, a touch of Pop, but most importantly, they are satisfying!

This is why In Your Lifetime is my Record Of The Day. Listen for yourself below!
