Toronto grungy garage outfit The Bats Pajamas have a lot going on for a fuzzy, scuzzy, surfy band. The first time I heard “You Get By”, the fusion of the flower punk of The Black Lips and pop of B52s hooked me in, but then like The Cramps they seem to be marinated in old soul and b-movie soundtracks.
There’s also an air of mystery to the BPs – there’s just not a lot of information out there about them and if you’re looking to find it here, sorry, the interview below doesn’t shed much light. But who cares? The Bats Pajamas play quality fuzzed out psychedelic garage rock and Steve Albini produced their 2010 self-titled record. Just listen, they have an album and two EPs, and if you want to download anything it’s even free okay?
