It’s Wednesday, and a great day to listen to Little Willie John’s first full-length album, Fever, titled after what wound up being one of his biggest hits, a song that’s been covered time and time again.
Little Willie John was a fantastic songwriter, his songs work their way into your head, your heart.
I love listening to Little Willie sing. His voice might be one of the most soothing ever recorded. His upbeat songs make you want to tap your foot, shake your hips, bob your head.
And then there are his ballads. Almost otherworldly, they grab you and take hold, gripping you tight; they make your fingers tingle, bring the barest prickly feeling of tears behind your eyes. And then they’re gone, and you’re alone. At least until you flip the record over.
