Kim Shattuck, co-founder of The Muffs has passed away at 56

Kim Shattuck, guitarist and vocalist of influential Los Angeles punk pop band The Muffs, has passed away after a 2 year battle with ALS. Shattuck was also in The Pandoras, The Beards, The Grumblers, and The Coolies.

The Muffs had 3 major label LP’s in the 90’s for Warner Bros/Reprise, as well as a prominent Kim Wilde cover on the platinum selling soundtrack to the ultimate 90’s flick Clueless. They had 3 LP’s and various collections on Honest Don’s, Five Foot Two, Burger Records, and Sympathy For The Record Industry, and a smattering of singles on Sympathy, Aug Go Go, and Sub Pop.

The Muffs new album, No Holiday, comes out October 18th on Omnivore Recordings. The Coolies record is out now, the proceeds of which benefit ALS research.
