In the very early days of 50thirdand3rd, I sent The Above a message and asked them for a fun quick interview and to my surprise, they said yes, becoming the 2nd Band that we featured. You can read that interview here, 5 QUESTIONS WITH….THE ABOVE. 15 Months later and here we are still having fun covering cool bands and listening to awesome music . The Above are a Band that should be featured in Shindig Magazine. There are very few bands that can pull off being influenced by the likes of The Yardbirds and The Small Faces and not seem dated. The Above are able to blend all those great sounds, rock to soul to garage and come out with something new. “Waterbury Street” expands their British Invasion vibe into the soul of James Brown and no one ever said that was easy. I’m a fan , I say, buy their record , The Above are friends of 50thirdand3rd and I’ll stay up late writing words of praise for these guys any day of the week.
