Today, we meet, Imp Of Perverse made possible by our friends at Some Weird Sin Records. Type in a search for Imp Of Perverse and you will get a whole lot from Edgar Allan Poe but after you follow some links provided, you will get a whole lot of cool psych vibes, mixed with some rock and shoegaze. Sean Lochridge is basically Imp Of Perverse and you will soon discover that he is an Artist with a vision, molding that vision into these tunes. Cool stuff, give a listen and discover a unique new Artist who is marching to his own drum beat…
Hi, my project name is….
imp of perverse

Stone Roses, I’m not too sure, I haven’t shared my music too much up to this point.
I am…..
Sean Lochridge and whichever of my friends happens to be working with me.
My friend Michael Mullings usually helps me with mixing.
I am from……
Currently living in Austin, born in Maine.
Who are some artists that have an influence on you?
Doves, Big Star, shoegaze in general, Radiohead, Tim Presley, R. Stevie Moore, and a million other bands.
Literature is a pretty big influence on me as well, imp of perverse is a short story by Edgar Allen Poe. People like Borges, Unamuno, Dylan Thomas, Camus, and ee cummings have all had a pretty big influence on my music.
How old were you when you started to play and what do you play?
I took piano lessons as a kid and hated it, which I regret. Then saxophone in school and now I play primarily guitar, drums, and bass. I currently record all the parts myself but I’ll probably collaborate more in the future.
Can you tell us about the process you use, from writing the songs all the way through getting the songs out?
I just sit with an idea long enough and eventually develop it into a full arrangement. When I record I just overlay each new track over what I’ve already recorded.
What are some of the challenges you face as a musician and how have you overcome those challenges?
Not being able to sing sucks, and finding other like-minded and hardworking musicians. Also my main instrument is drums, so being able to find a place to play my instrument regularly has been frustrating at times.
Beatles or Stones?
Big Star
Pizza or Tacos?
Pizza always.
Who are you currently listening to ….
Sweet Trip, The Olivia Tremor Control, The Minders, and Broadcast.
If you could open for any band right now who would that be and why?
Unknown Mortal Orchestra because they kill it live, and the music is just too good.
My youngest son is 13 and in a band, what advice would you give him?
Spend as much time on your instrument as possible.
My plans for 2015…..
Get some new equipment, finally finish mixing my first album, and record a whole lot more. Also get better at drums.
listen to some cool tunes..
