Mid-week coolness from The Verigolds. Lots of synth/keyboard driven vibes, dig the mix of vocals, nice harmonies filled in with some jangy guitars and solid band performance all around. It’s a new sound, hybrid of sorts but that’s the history of rock, reminds me of Bands like Foxygen, not easy to lump into some category created by the powers that be. Makes for a more active listening session, puts the fun back into guessing where they came up with this sound. Very cool drums! Overall, I like how the tunes change pace, shows some creativity of the highest order, not many bands can pull that off. My thoughts are The Verigolds are a Band you should get to know….
Hi our name is….
The Verigolds
People say we sound like…..
marigolds

How old were all of you when you started to play and who plays what in the band
Eliot plays Guitar/Lead Vox/Viola – 1st chair in Cal Poly SLO symphony
Juniper plays Keys/Lead Vox/Guitar – was Grace Slick in her previous life
Ben plays Keys/Back Up Vox – has played piano since the womb
Craig plays Drums/Back Up Vox – started playing music at age 8 and took up drums at 28
Can you tell us about the process you use, from writing the songs all the way through getting the songs out
Our tunes start out as seeds thrown about the ground by usually by Eliot, Juni and Ben. Then Craig comes in and adds some “beat” (or beet) water and plants start to grow as the group sunshine rises.
What are some of the challenges you face as musicians and how have you overcome those challenges
Patience & Balance; keep everything in check and not take life too seriously
If you could pick any time to travel back to for music, where would you go and what year would it ….
Summer of ’68 or the Neolithic Age
Who are all of you currently listening to ….
Juniper – Deep Vally, La Femme, Barbarian
Eliot – Ed Ghost Tucker, Allah Las
Ben – 1980’s Moody Blues, early Floyd

If you could open for any Band right now who would that be and why?
Foxygen or La Femme cuz they’re psychos!
My youngest son is 13 and in a Band, what advice would you offer him…
be yourself, strive for originality and find people you enjoy being around. If it’s not honest, don’t play it!
The one thing we want you to remember while your listening to us….
Pour yourself a nice cup of Pu-erh tea and a hoppy IPA, lay on the ground, take a few deep slow breaths, listen with open ears and then once the beat drops, blast off and bounce around the moon!
listen to some cool tunes….
follow/keep up with The Verigolds…
