Germ House is Justin Hubbard’s band, formerly of the band Turpentine Brothers. Germ House are a noisy oddball garagey pop band whose sound has both teeth and brains. It’s hard to pin down all the reference points, aside from old r & b and british invasion 45’s, I imagine these guys have a room somewhere full of records on labels like Stiff, Rough Trade, and Flying Nun. It’s like freaky well informed garage pop with weird psychedelic guitar and keyboard bits and off-kilter-but-still-catchy melodies. Germ House have two songs on the upcoming Neon Maniacs compilation on Girlsville, which features them alongside bands like Coachwhips, Zig Zags, The Darling Buds, and Mr. Airplane Man. The songs contributed fit in well with the mix of garage and punk that commingle with bands with an otherwise overtly pop sensibility. They are a good introduction to the band, and should also satiate fans awaiting the follow up to their 2014 debut, Showing Symptoms (Trouble in Mind).
