Gentlemen Jesse And His Men

I discovered Gentlemen Jesse And His Men a few years ago by accident. I was looking for Jesse Smith’s (guitar, vocals) garagepunk band, the Carbonas, and happened to stumble upon his side band. Man was I glad for the mistake. These guys are a throwback to some great power-pop from the late seventies and they play it wearing the stains of Nick Lowe, Cheap Trick and Paul Collins on their sleeves. After a tour with The Black Lips and pop heroes, Paul Collins Beat, the band put out a self titled full length album HERE in 2008. They returned with a follow up album in 2012 titled “Leaving Atlanta”. Here are two of my favorite tracks from the LP but it was hard to pick just two. This record played nonstop for about 3 weeks at my place.
