Full Stream Premiere! THE DUKE OF SURL – “Out Of It” from King Pizza Records

The title track from The Duke of Surl‘s new record – “Out Of It” leads things off with a gigantic 70s arena rock riff, a hooky shout-along chorus and a guitar solo to match, so you’d be forgiven for not thinking this was a bedroom project.

The Duke Of Surl is the solo recording project of Massachusetts native Will Brown, now living and recording in his bedroom in Milan, Italy.  “Out Of It” follows up his March 2017 debut “Ham Radio” from King Pizza Records.

Much like the four album psychedelic neo-garage output of King Tuff, Brown kicks out fuzzy garage rock jams, glam fueled classic rock nuggets and freaky pop gems all in the space of nine tracks.

“These songs were written right after I quit my job and moved to Italy” Brown says.

“I know that music is at its best when it is collaborative, but writing and recording alone is the best way I know how to express myself. Taking a Tascam 388 I pulled out of a church basement in a nearby village, a 12 Watt (neighbor friendly) guitar amp I brought over in my carry-on luggage, and a few other do-dads, I set up a skeleton studio in my bedroom closet and set about doing just that. I wanted to see what I could do with these basic tools if I was freed from obligation and allowed to just create. That is what Out Of It is all about. This record was written and recorded at a time when I was disconnected and in a place where I was on my own.”

We’ve got the full stream below. “Out Of It” will be released August 9th. Order from King Pizza HERE!
