For all fans of Gram Parson, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Petty, early ,Eagles and The Band it’s time for you to pay attention to The Promised Land Sound. All under 25 having played the garage scene in Nashville, members have played with PUJOL, Denney and the Jets, and members of JEFF The Brotherhood and Those Darlins, among others and their first record was a Live 7inch from Third Man Records, Jack White also being a fan of the group. Promised Land Sound members are Brothers Joey Scala (bass and vocals) and Evan Scala (drums) and singer Sean Thompson and classically trained keys man Ricardo Alessio. Being a huge fan of Gram Parsons anytime his name gets mentioned in a review, my ears perk up just a little, which gets me searching for that band ,sometimes being disappointed in the expectation that I’m about to listen to great stuff. With The Promised Land Sound all those lofty expectations have been met and then surpassed, this is a mega star first album. The harmonies are enough to blow me away, and then throw in some guitar work that will pull you back to the days of Sweetheart of the Rodeo. I’ve listened to this album for about 4 hours now with no end in sight. My recommendation is to buy this on Vinyl first chance you get, I know I will.
