Exiled at The Rodeo….. Meet, The Mama Rags

the mama rags

It won’t take you long to pick up on the idea that The Mama Rags like The Stones and I’m betting they like The Byrds and The Band as well. They have that twang going on and great blues guitar kicking in, not to mention a solid bass and drums laying down some rhythm . Keep in mind that what your going to listen to is practice sessions for their first EP. I feel like I’m hanging out with them in the garage and that’s exactly where I love to hear some good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. I’m already listening to this the 3rd time around and I’m starting to sing along , so let’s call The Mama Rags a Band on the rise in 2014….

Hi our name is The Mama Rags

And our sound might be best described as a modern equivalent of the Rolling Stones

We are TJ Kelly, Colin Moen, Ian Cunningham and Peter Booker

We are originally from Seattle, WA

The first time we met was in the summer of 2013

We knew we were going to be a band from the beginning. We met through other musicians.

Before starting the band we were students at the University of Washington

The first song we wrote was Rodeo Blues

It’s about struggling with alcoholism as it ruins a relationship

What we are currently listening to: Ty Segall’s new band Fuzz and our friends Moondog Matinee, Tango Alpha Tango, and Fox & the

For fun we like to collect records, do mushrooms, go see other local Seattle bands, watch movies

The one thing we want you to remember while your listening to us: We’re currently working on our debut EP. The demos we have out now are rough takes from practice sessions.

Expect our first EP and at least a West Coast tour from us in 2014
