THE SPINS are an italian pop-rock outfit headed by Alessia Mattalia, arguably Europes best known female drummer having done session work for Jeff Beck and particurarly noted for her drumming on Jeff Beck’s Grammy Award winning track HAMMERHEAD featured on the album ‘Emotion and Commotion’
Hi our name is THE SPINS
And our sound might be best described as ELECTRONIC POP/ROCK, CATCHY HOOKS INTERMINGLED WITH ELECTRONIC TEXTURES AND SOLID ROCK BEATS
We are JADE BARNETT (LEAD VOCALS), ALESSIA MATTALIA (DRUMS), MARTA RICCARDI (BASS), MARCELLO GIORDANO (KEYBOARDS) AND ANDREA FILIPPONE (GUITAR)
We are originally from TORINO, ITALY (ALESSIA, MARCELLO AND ANDREA) AND LONDON (JADE AND MARTA).
The first time we met was lN NOVEMBER 2013, WHEN WE ENTERED IN STUDIO FOR A 2-DAYS SESSION AND RECORDED OUR FIRST SONG CALLED INERTIA
We knew we were going to be a Band when WE BEGAN REHEARSALING FOR THE FIRST TIME TOGETHER AND REALIZED THAT WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE GOOD MUSIC EVEN IF WE WERE DOING JUST SOME IMPROVISATION.
Before starting the band we were employed as SESSION MUSICIANS AND MUSIC TEACHERS.
The first song we wrote was OUR ACTUAL FIRST SINGLE, CALLED INERTIA.
It’s about THE NEED OF FINDING TIMES AND SPACES TO REST AND TAKE SOME DISTANCE FROM THE STRESS OF MODERN LIFE
What we are currently listening to EVERY MUSIC WHICH COULD GIVE US SOME KIND OF INSPIRATION, FROM OUR OLD PASSIONS ( THE BEATLES, THE WHO, QUEEN) TO THE MORE INTERESTING NEW BEATS ( PARAMORE, FRANZ FERDINAND, COLDPLAY, ARCTIC MONKEYS)
