The Effigies – “Below The Drop” – Record of the Day

The Effigies were one of the first wave of punk bands from Chicago. In the 80’s they played with and around the other bands in town like Naked Raygun, Strike Under, and Big Black. Any punk in Chicago owes a debt to them. “Below the Drop” comes off sounding A LOT like Warsaw, which makes sense as they would later cover Joy Division. So while I spend my last 6 months in Chicago before I move back out West, I wanted to celebrate some great Chicago bands.
