Big sounds, great vocals reminds me of a Band playing in front of 25,000 people who are swinging to the beat like when I saw The Killers with my Wife. Her voice lures you in and keeps you wondering what’s up next…Give a listen, expand your horizons all the way to Sweden…
Hi our name is:
Pretties for You.
And our sound might be best described as:
Powerful and dramatic vocals, melodic, dark pop with athmospheric guitars and bombastic drums.
We are:
Martina Forsgren – Songwriter, vocals
Michael Franke – Guitar
Simon Andersson – Bass
Christian Johansson – Keys
Martin Brodin – Drums
We are originally from:
Different parts of Sweden. From the cold Winterfell down through Casterly Rock and all the way to Storm’s End. None of us are from King’s Landing though.
The first time we met was:
We all met through mutual friends, and the band was founded in January 2011. But the first incarnation of the band was when Martina and Michael (they’re also a couple) started writing songs together.
We knew we were going to be a Band when:
We realized how great we sound.
Before starting the band we were employed as:
We still have regular jobs.
Our craziest gig ever was:
Since we’re not filthy rich we really can’t afford to be all rock’n roll crazy, like smash guitars or wreck our hotel rooms. But, one of our strangest gigs was in a small Swedish town and we’re on stage preparing, not really ready to start just yet. The DJ, who’s standing next to the stage, stops playing the music thinking that we’re ready to go so it gets all quiet. For the regular concert goer this is a normal thing before a band goes up on stage. But and all of the sudden a manager of some sort comes running towards the stage screaming really angry at us “IT CAN NEVER BE QUIET ON THE DANCEFLOOR”. So we started arguing with the guy and it was quite an awkward start. After the gig we weren’t allowed to go through the back door so we had to carry our instruments through a really crowded dance floor towards the main entrance.
The first song we wrote was:
One of the first songs written for the band was the song Shed No Tears on our first EP, the music is quite different from our current sound. Another song, also one of the first, Dancing Machine, is a song Martina wrote inspired by our drummer, because he’s a great dancer.
It’s about;
Shed No Tears is about not wasting energy on what other people think or say about you.
