If you are in the mood for a classic sounding Blues Band , one that harkens back to the good old days , stop what you are doing and give a listen to The Lone Crows. The guitar riffs are amazing, very cool vocals and rhythm section that backs up that great guitar work. If you close your eyes , it’s the late 70’s , your in the front row and kids are just blowing some smoke up to the stage so the Band can take it all in as they jam away. Love it!!!
Hi our name is….
The Lone Crows
People say we sound like…..
Tim: Everything from Zeppelin to Santana to the Black Keys to ZZ Top to the Arctic Monkeys to Soundgarden. I’ve heard a lot of different comparisons, they’re all equally valid.
We are….
Tim Barbeau, Julian Manzara, Andy Battcher, Joe Goff
We are originally from…..
Minneapolis, MN
Who are some that have an influence on your sound??
Julian: There’s a little Megadeth in there, some Zeppelin, some Nirvana, some Santana, everybody good is in there.
Tim: Really anyone who’s got the blues.
The first time we met was…..
Julian: We all went to the same high school, but some of us met in middle school (ages 11 or 12!!!)
We knew we were going to be a Band…
Julian: Right away when we started jamming.
Books we recommend …
Tim: Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo, it basically functions as my bible.
Julian: Favorites are 1984 and The Brothers Karamazov.
Our craziest gig ever was….
Julian: Definitely This spring at Freak Valley Festival!
Tim: Yep. No question there.
If you could pick any time to travel back to for music, where would you go and what year would it be….
Julian: I would go to the forties and fifties to hear Charlie Parker, Dizzy and Bud Powell.
Tim: I’ve often felt if I grew up in the 60s and tried getting into the music business around 1969 I would’ve fit right in, but honestly right now is a pretty great time to be alive.
Growing up ,at home we listened to…..
Julian: Megadeth!
Tim: SRV, Hendrix, and Zeppelin are my butter, bread, and jam.
What tunes are you currently jamming to…
Julian: The album Coltrane Plays the Blues. It’s incredible.
Tim: Bernhoft’s new album ‘Islander,’ Minneapolis Hip Hop MCs deM atlaS and Guante’s collaborative project, ‘Sifu Hotman,’ and this fucking ridiculous psych groove band Earthless, their album ‘Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky.’ That’s all solid gold to my ears right now.
If you could open for any Band right now who should that be and why?
Tim: The Black Keys, just because that would be sick. I want to tell Dan to lay back on the Pop side of things and convince them to let me jam some good old dirty, boozy, 12-bar blues with them.
When you are touring and have some time off , where could we find you..,.,
Julian: The hills of Switzerland…When I have time off I’m usually sleeping, practicing, or exploring where ever it is that I am.
Tim: Doing whatever really, there’s not much time to have an idea what shenanigans we’re going to get into. This last Euro tour we had plenty of good times at the Biergarten in which ever town we would be at, and also spinning vinyls with new friends along the way~
The one thing we want you to remember while you’re listening to us
Tim: I’m just grateful you’re listening to us in the first place, that’s pretty cool. Other than that read into it however you want, I’m not going to tell you what to think.
listen to this fantastic album…
and you can follow/keep up with The Lone Crows…
