This Band is just what I need to get moving . Very cool stuff and if you need anymore reasons to listen how about this….They recently opened for Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs at The Knitting Factory….
Hi our name is….The Recordettes
And our sound might be best described as….Garage-influenced powerpop with a dash of punk
We are…. Tony LoFI (vocal and guitar) Anna Anabolic (bass and vocal) Sacha (keyboard and back vocal) Smilin Dave Smillow (drum) Elliott Klein (guitar) and Joan The Chew Chew Train (keyboard/vocal when Sacha is busy being a mommy)
We are originally from…..all over the place. We all live in New York now but some of us are from lands far away like The French Canadia, Singapour, California and even Long Island
The first time we met was…..I met Anna Anabolic in our apartment, because she is my wife and we live together. I met Dave when I joined my first New York (actually, American band) Big RIff, I stole him away from that. Sacha, we met when I didn’t want to play guitar, during our first show, and she just came on stage and played for me. Elliott and Joan, I stole away from my own wife’s band, Party Lights (7” out on the same label as us, No Front Teeth Records)
We knew we were going to be a Band when………I had all these amazing songs who needed to be screamed at people
Before starting the band we were employed as…….yeah…we haven’t reached stardom yet, so we’re still very much employed in various jobs.
Our craziest gig ever was….Our first was to open for Shonen Knife, which is pretty crazy.
The first song we wrote was…….John Waters, Can you please be my father.
It’s about……It’s about me wanting John Waters to be my dad.
What we are currently listening to….I m liking a lot the Ausmuteant album, on Goner Records.
A few albums we could never part with….the first Ramones, some of the bands would say some Cheap Tricks album, the first 3 Devo albums.
For fun we like to…..steal the other bands beers while they play.
The one thing we want you to remember while your listening to us……We’re just a silly rock n roll band, putting the fun back in Rock N Roll
Expect….
from us in 2014….more shows, and maybe we will kick ourselves in the ass enough and we’ll record our first album
