We really aren’t “Meeting” The High Violets , They have been around for awhile. What we are doing is “Getting To Know” them before their 5th Album is released. The music lures you in , a big wall of sound, dreamy and layered. This is from The High Violets
Described as “flowing, edgy, hypnotic and very contagious” The High Violets have tapped the vein of Lush, the Sundays and the Cocteau Twins while defining their own sound. Layered guitars, textured arrangements and ethereal vocals combine to create a skilled and respectful blend of pop and shoegazing sensibilities.
We are Kaitlyn ni Donovan, Clint Sargent, Luke Strahota and Colin Sheridan
We are originally from…..
Clint-Portland OR
Colin and Luke-Eugene OR
Kaitlyn-Juneau Alaska
The first time we met was…..
Clint: Luke and I were in a band (The Bella Low) that played with Kaitlyn’s band a lot in the mid 90’s.
We knew we were going to be a Band when………
Kait: When I offered (as a welcome change from juggling my multi-instrumental solo music) to just play tambourine, plunk a few notes on a synth and bliss out. That didn’t last long as I was soon ushered to singer and guitar.
Before starting the band we were employed as…….
Clint-office worker
Kait-bartender
The first song we wrote was…….
Clint: “Wheel”
It’s about……
Time spent dancing and lurking the nights away at a discotheque.
What we are currently listening to….
Kait: choral renaissance era music and Andy Whitaker.
Clint: Tame Impala, Spector’s “Wall of Sound” and revisiting The Mighty Lemon Drops.
For fun we like to…..
Clint: Skinny skiing
Kait: Sing Abba to my cats
The one thing we want you to remember while your listening to us……
Kait: Discerning the lyrics while listening is futile. It takes me three filled notebooks per album to write them.
Expect…..
Our new and 5th album release
