Gonerfest 13 is getting closer and closer, happening September 29th in Memphis. Continuing on with our series spotlighting those bands that will be on stage I give to you the band Chook Race! The band is out of Australia, and members are Matthew, Carolyn and Rob. They have this guitar driven, pop sound that is easy listening and chill. Chook Race will release their second LP titled Around the House in September via Trouble In Mind Records. The single “Hard to Clean” is a light melody with melancholy undertones while the track “Sometimes” is a faster energetic vibe with more of a garage feel. They have some shows in Australia right now leading up to Gonerfest and many dates here in the U.S. going through October.

Lets see, well we’ve written songs about many beautiful things, romantic observations, people, interpersonal relationships, the day to day.
Would you like to say anything about your new album?
It’s titled ‘Around the House’ and our second record. The album is being released by Chicago’s ‘Trouble in Mind’ internationally and from sunny Brisbane, Australia’s ‘Tenth Court’ in AU/NZ. It features songs about many beautiful things.

Thoughts on GonerFest?
Well, I’ve always ogled at the lineup. In reality though, It’s hard for me to have any relevant thought; I’m yet to attend. Carolyn made it across the seas a few years back and had a blast. That’s something!
Any other bands playing GonerFest you are excited to catch play?
I’m not going to start playing favorites, I’d prefer to plant myself in front of the stage with a completely open mind.
