If you want to jump start your day or week-end this is your ticket. I would call it a big wave of sonic sound . Year Of The Drone is a catchy tune, full of hooks and timely lyrics. I like these songs so let’s keep an eye on Little Mono and as more songs from the LP come out we’ll get them posted. Little Mono is currently working on their first album , once again , you can say, I heard about them 1st from 50thirdand3rd.
Hi our name is…. Little Mono
And our sound might be best described as…. Visceral, spaced-out, poetic, melody driven art-rock
We are… Vincent Marsh, Joe Hirst, Jarrad Kirk, Dave Chitty.
We are originally from….. We all grew up in the various mining villages that litter the south Yorkshire/North Nottinghamshire border
The first time we met was….. Vin met Joe whilst working at a pub which Joes then current band played, he gradually got to know him and his family over the years especially his cousin Jarrad who also played in bands on the local scene, plans were drawn and music played while Joe took a sabbatical to India. While there he met Dave who was playing in various jam bands on the party circuit, it turned out Dave lived in a village two miles away from Joe and when they returned to the UK the line-up was complete.
We knew we were going to be a Band when……… We first all got in a room together and it felt like we’d been playing music together for years
Before starting the band we were employed as……. Jam butty inspectors for Ken Dodd
The first song we wrote was……. Year of the drone
It’s about…… the future and the past, a tone poem about the state of the world narrowed down to two lines and some apocalyptic music
What we are currently listening to…. Mudhoney, White Denim, The Zombies, Lightning Bolt, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Beatles, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Neu!, Wagner, The Who, Earth, QOTSA, The La’s, Pantera, Death In Vegas, Buzzcocks, Also currently a bit obsessed with Dylan ’65-’66, ‘Pinkerton’ by Weezer, The third Velvet Underground LP and A Clockwork Orange by Wendy Carlos…. so yeah allsorts.
For fun we like to….. Tell the aristocrats joke, watch 15 Stories High and Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace.
The one thing we want you to remember while you’re listening to us…… When the going gets weird, the weird go pro
Expect….. our debut album ‘sailing songs vol. 1’ and festival appearances
