Album of the Week: HELEN LOVE – ‘Power On’

Never shy at professing their love for all things Ramones, (a love reciprocated by Joey) Welsh indie bubble-gum punks Helen Love were formed in 1992, and “Power On” is the bands’ eighth album.

Helen Love play an uncomplicated blend of pop and punk with a whole lot of candy crunch like the Ramones, Chinn and Chapman and the Bay City Rollers in overdrive. As for influences, well, they lay it all out sampling Elvis Costello’s ‘Pump It Up‘, ‘Shout It Out Loud‘ by KISS and of course ‘Blitzkrieg Bop‘ by the Ramones. It’s intoxicatingly fun and will keep the party swinging all night long.

Power On‘ is released on Alcopop! in the UK and Jigsaw Records in NA.
