Album of the Week: CARBONAS – “Your Moral Superiors: Singles And Rarities”

When the aliens inevitably reach earth and ask you “what is rock and roll?”, just put on this record.

Atlanta’s Carbonas have been, ahem…broken up for ten years now, but in their short time they were like a freaking comet. They came bursting out of nowhere, lit the sky on fire and disappeared. Luckily Goner Records has given us the gift that keeps on giving with “Your Moral Superiors: Singles And Rarities.

Sure Carbonas were never trying to reinvent the wheel, they sound like they roughed up the Ramones in the back alley with the Marked Men holding their beer. But here you get 37, yes 37 tracks (on double vinyl if you want it, and you know you do) pulled from their three LPs, 2003’s Scene Killer and the two self-titled records, from 2006 and 2007. Plus b-sides, rarities, and covers of Zero Boys, Paul Collins, The Plugz, and Real Kids to mention but a few.
