Album of the Week: ABORTED TORTOISE – An Beach

Solid, solid record from Perth, Australia’s oddly named ABORTED TORTOISE.

Part 80s hardcore, part sneering garage punk and part surf rock, “An Beach” is a scrappy DIY affair; short and sweet with only one of the 15 tracks over 3 minutes long.

To give you an idea of what’s going on here, “Fashionably Late” is a “Let’s Lynch the Landlord” style Dead Kennedys rage, while “Bees 2” is a hooky garage punk ripper. “Spewin’ McGregor” is a true blue Dick Dale surf rocker, and the epic 6 minute closer “Crumple Zone” sounds like a jam by Parquet Courts.

“An Beach” was recorded in 2016 and is now out on Bachelor Records. Buy it HERE!
