Album of the Week: ABJECTS – “Never Give Up”

Never Give Up is the debut LP for international garage-rockers, Abjects. But even though this is the first record, the band has already played with the likes of The 5.6.7.8.’s, Mikal Cronin, Fat White Family, Shannon & the Clams, La Luz, Colleen Green, and Guitar Wolf which paints a accurate picture of their sound.

Formed in 2013 by Noemi (Guitar/Vox- Spain), Yuki (Bass/Vox- Japan) and Alice (Drums/Vox – Italy), Abjects have been busy touring, writing and releasing first the Gone EP in 2015 (Stolen Body Records), the Double Bind 7” in 2016 (Greenway Records) and now Never Give Up.

The album was recorded with Medway Scene legend Jim Riley at his Rochester based Ranscombe Studios – “Home of the Medway Sound” and it’s a perfect match for Abjects’ mix of garage, surf and psychedelic punk.

Never Give Up absolutely explodes from the gate with “Aburrido” and rarely slows down. This album is full of brash, bold power pop-inspired garage stomp with hooks and ample guitar shredding.

Noemi explains: “The album is an amalgamation of tracks that illustrate our life journey in the last 5 years. Feelings of frustration and failure are shook off and translated into new challenges to overcome whilst having a lot of fun at it. We want people to have fun listening to our music, and to infuse others with energy, drive, and self¬-determination.

Out on Yippee Ki Yay Records and international distribution through Redeye Worldwide.
