A Weekend in the Midwest: Two Nights Four Bands: Night Two Kansas

As the saga continues, night two kicks off in the middle of lovely Manhattan, Kansas, at a house called Church of Swole. Where if you are lucky to be in the know, you can get in. This is the best ran house venue I have ever seen. The door man is equipped with a list and if you are not on it, you are not in. The venue is packed and always has the best rock ‘n’ roll has to offer, playing it only on secret nights! So exclusive that anyone who does not follow the rules does not come back. Kids this is how to keep the trash and cops out and the rock going! Picture playing on this lovely stage!

Then if that wasn’t enough this house comes standard with the most amazing rockers in the Manhattan area. All around good dudes that have been playing in the scene collectively for more than 20 years. The band that these fine gentlemen comprise now is, none other than the birth child of T-Rex and ZZ-Top, Headlight Rivals! If this band comes to your town you know its time to get out and get down. You can check out their band camp here: Juliette EP by Headlight Rivals

Holy mother of Bass and drums, Dangerously Biased is a two piece from Hays, Kansas. They took the stage third that night and brought the heat of funk and rhythm and tracked a perfect chaotic sensibility of rock ‘n’ roll into only two instruments.  I may be a little biased myself here but I have always loved a good two piece. Check them out live!!
