Willie Nelson turns 84 on this coming Saturday, and if you’re looking to listen to an album to celebrate, I have to recommend “Red Headed Stranger,” released in 1975.
When my ex-husband moved out, he took all of our Willie Nelson records with him. It took me a while to get past being upset about that, since he didn’t own a turntable and I hadn’t seen him use mine once, but when I did, I set to buying myself all the old Willie albums I wanted, secure in the knowledge that these would never leave me.
Red Headed Stranger was the first one I got.
Happy birthday, Willie. Many happy returns.
